Hudson is not the first successful former 'Idol' contestant. Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood have taken home Grammy Awards, Ruben Studdard and Fantasia Barrino have released chart-topping singles and Clay Aiken has amassed a fan following of Claymates, among other accomplishments.
So, who will be the next star? Tell us what you think.
And in the blog post that just keeps on giving, a quick wrap-up of last week's poll. In what can be called a landslide (76.1% majority), you voted that Clay Aiken's performance of 'Solitaire' was the greatest 'Idol' performance ever. And, we had even more votes this week -- 3,613 total!

There will never be another voice like Clay's on Idol or anywhere, ever! He just has a gift that no other idol or singer seems to have, a voice from Heaven. He also has such a magnetic persona - it is truly amazing.

I have read everything posted and "finally" someone with whom I agree as "Simon" would say, A million percent. Although I haven't started to vote, ah maybe I am too lazy, I jsut can't believe some of the results....Please America, vote without your ToneDeaf ears!!!!! To sum this up, my American Idol pic this year? Melinda or Lakisha........of course last year I was a huge Mandesa fan and see where that got me. I do believe I have an ear for talent.

Clay is just amazing. A perfect voice. He could sing to me anytime!

I believe America's vote is not correctly calculated. I believe the American people got shafted by a TV Show and its staff and management. Two years in a row the real American Idol has been knocked out. That is a shame for the Contestant. Because she or he does not get the title they deserve. Also for the voting public because they don't get the proper respect they deserve.
Four of the 12 finalist should have never be selected. YELLING is not singing. American Idol is a singing competition. The Judges must have become tone death. Because of the stress of so many auditions. Because four of the finalist can not SING.
That is a shame because the best of the contestants have to be made way because of a voting calculating error. Now it will take at least four weeks before the competition is corrected. I casted my vote.
My opinon may not be heard. I will never watch the show again and I hope millions of other people join me.
Just like when I was growing up, I can't be upset. Because when I didn't like someting. I was told by my parents. "Don't be upset American Idol IS NOT REAL, IT IS ONLY TELEVISION"
I truly believe that American Idol is not real.
