Review: Taylor Hicks at North Fork Theatre

Anyone make the show this weekend?

The silver-haired crooner played to Long Island's masses on Saturday night at the North Fork Theatre. J. Edward Keyes provided Newsday with a review of the show, excerpt below:
That's where those fans come in. Their fevered weekly voting ensured Hicks' "Idol" victory, which in turn scored him a major-label record contract and enough clout to headline his own national tour, which is how he ended up on stage at a sold-out North Fork Theatre.

Hicks' acolytes take their adoration seriously: Christening themselves The Soul Patrol, they turn up in articles about Hicks as often as he does (See? There they go again). They express their devotion on Internet message boards and voice sharp concerns when Hicks appears on stage with notorious scoundrels like Snoop Dogg. And can you blame them? In a way, they had as much to do with Hicks' stardom as he did.

Fortunately for them, Hicks understands what it's like to be a fan.

What is really a shame is that you chose this review to post. I have been trying to decide if the critic is deaf & blind. The comments to this review from the people in that area remark that this is one bitter man sent out to review shows.

Taylor Hicks in Concert??? .. Tickets hard to come by ... venues sold out ... Audience on their feet & dancing ...standing ovations. I have been there. AMAZING AMAZING performer .. loves his fans & gains new ones every show.

Check out the review from the House of Blues in Chicago ... Tampa Tribune ... Nashville ... he played the Ryman and the city LOVED him.

Again ... I just am not sure why you picked this particular review to post.

Think I am just a fan taking up for Taylor?? Read on

From Bruce Torres, president of Cabana Cove Concerts....
Tickets are expected to sell "very, very quickly," Torres said Thursday afternoon."He's one of the hottest things in music right now," said Torres, who called Hicks' live performances "amazing.""He throws some jazz and blues in the middle of a mix of songs," Torres said.
Hicks' music is "bluesy and soulful" and he connects with the audience at his mostly standing-room-only concerts, Torres said.
