Insanity
So, after 56 minutes, we are getting to the results.
Jordin's first, so my guess is she's safe. Ryan says almost 60 million votes came in and he thinks she'll happy with them because she has made it through to next week's finale.
So, for me, this should be a no-brainer. Bye, bye Blake. But you know, this show has had some crazy results, so you never know...
Unbelievable - Melinda is off the show and Blake is going to the finale. I may seriously consider asking if I can boycott next week's finale. This is outrageously ridiculous. No one deserved to be in that finale like Melinda. So many words are flashing through my head right now, but none of them are printable. So, I'm out.

well it was obvious that melinda would be voted out when they gave the results for Jordan first. but before they did that, i think everyone thought Melinda was a shoe in. Did anyone besides me get the sense that blake didn't care if he went to the next round? i think there's a big part of him that doesn't want to win, bc of the iron clad contract, being forced to sing crappy songs, etc. And with the precedent of daughtry, i almost felt like he was just too casual at the very end, like he just didn't care at this point.... and in fact, i think winning the competition for him was way less important than it was for jordan or melinda

I couldn't agree more. I believe that tonight is the last time I will ever watch American Idol. Melinda is the only one who truly deserved to win the competition.

Melinda is gone but that means she can start her real career. All she needed was some advertising and people to see how great she really is. I think Blake and Jordin still need a small push but they are doing okay. I am content with the results.

I've been predicting this since the beginning. The best singer NEVER wins, but I did think she would make it to the finals.
I'm still rooting for Jordin.

Milinda was the best singer Idol has ever had,. As far as I am concerned Idol ended tonight. They kicked off the best,so I won't be watching the rest.

I said it when there were 10. Melinda is a good singer, one of the best, but she is not an American Idol complete package, Blake is a joke, i'm not saying is isn't, in fact the whole show is a joke. Haley should of been the AI. But who are we kidding, these voters are mostly kids who will vote for one or the other just because of the outfit one might have on. Jordan for the win and boy she should lose some weight, 17 years old and a heffer to say the least.

I believe Melinda should be the winner of
American Idol. This is ridiculous that the show kicked Melinda off. However,they must of informed of a nice contract because she was not upset when she was told that she is off the show. This show is so fixed , like what is going on in our government.

That BULL Melinda should have never beenkicked off.. American Idol is Bull SH*T I should have stopped watching it after Ruben was made American Idol he sucked and didn't deserve to win... now Melinda is getting shafted... But at least she will not have any problem getting a record deal from this.. she's the best so far i said it from day one...
Melinda have my support no matter what......

I am so happy with the results. Melinda is not marketable enough and Blake has a lot of talent. You have not seen the best of him yet. Jordan is also amazing and has a beautiful voice. I think America finally got it right!!!!! Look what happened last year with Taylor Hicks-where is he now? Who knows and who cares!!!! Daughtry all the way! Even if Blake comes in 2nd, he will get a record deal!!!!

What everyone seems to be missing is the fact that it really doesn't matter who WINS AI, it has really no impact on what kind of career they have. The fact Melinda made it this far and has touched the hearts of millions of people GUARANTEES her a contract and I'm pretty sure she'll outdo even last years AI. The same goes for Blake and Jordin.
I was surprised by last night, but really I'm just waiting for records to come out at this point.. not really caring who actually WINS.

Quoting the first post, that is soooo true, Blake seems to not want to win, which is fine. I think winning AI could actually hurt is career!!

I have been a huge Melinda fan from the auditions.
I did not need her to win, I just wanted to hear her sing one more time in the finals. Someone from yahoo.com said it best "If Melinda wins she will be a star, if she loses she will be a legend. She will be a LEGEND.
There are few professional singers that can outsing Melinda much less Blake and Jordin

Blake Blows. He is a terrible singer. Melinda was the Elliot Yamin of 07. Its obviously a popularity contest. Blake will probably win and Idol will go down the tubes. Jordan is good, but does not even come close to Melinda. She gave me goose bumps when she sang. I enjoyed listening to her. Simon Cowell must be wondering and worrying where this show is goimg.

Kudos to Fox TV for creating and having the gumption to see American Idol into fruition. Today, it's America's top TV show. With the ouster of gifted singer Melinda Doolittle this stirs more drama and water cooler talk into the program. Not by far, Melinda has better singing pipes than Jordin, and a lot better than Blake, yet she lost. TV drama at its best. No one thought Fox has a chance in the late 1980s when it made a bid to play ball in the national network field with CBS, NBC, and ABC. So what did Fox introduced to us? The Simpsons cartoon and Married with Children sitcom. Fox has been breaking new innovative TV ground ever since. American Idol is the newest jewel in its crown. Okay, so Melinda didn't move to the final two, yet her performances throughout the weeks that lead up to the moment of her ouster brought happiness to millions of music lovers. What a great TV show!

THE VOTING HAS GOT TO CHANGE... ONLY ONE VOTE PER IDOL..THIS WILL STOP THE KIDS FROM STAYING UO ALL NIGHT VOTING FOR A CUTE ASS OR THEIR AGE COHORT...TALENT IS THE GAME FANS REMEMBER THIS.. MELINDA WAS THE TALENT AND SHE WILL TAKE THE NEXT GRAMMY LEAVING JORDIN AND BLAKE WITH MOUTHS OPEN.

I've said it before and I'll say it again -- the show has been hijacked by inchoate teens who can't buy Ford's products and won't support the Idol winner. Where's the genius marketing in that?
I cannot, cannot, cannot believe Melinda was cut! If even half the people I've heard threaten to stop watching actually did (and I'm one of them as of last week), the show might get a wake-up call (but then, people have very short memories).
Can't wait for Melinda's first CD!

Do you really want a girl with no neck, to many teeth and a four foot jaw line to win Idol? I am glad Melinda is gone.
As far as Jordin, she is 17 and is built like an NFL linebacker.
Blake is down to earth and is true to his music.
He will make a million with music where Jordin will make a Billion for Jenny Craig.
