The Melinda Doolittle Catastrophe
Here begins the outrage.
How could it happen? Why would it happen? Who's too blame? Why are "American Idol" voters such blithering idiots...?

I blame Melinda's shocking lose on the governor of the honorable state of Tennessee. Why wasn't the mayor from Melinda's hometown or Nashville there to greet her and root her on. Who did we see some Tennessee Governor who looked liked he wanted free publicity. That alone was a big turn off. As far as Tennessee politics go, I can't stand it. VP Al Gore's homestate voted against him in the 2000 Presidential election and cost him the presidency. So what do I see on TV standing next to Melinda? A governor who is probably interested in running for another office. No fear, however, about Melinda's career. She has enough talent to take her to the heights of a singing career.

I'm done with A.I. and won't be watching next week. As far as I'm concerned Melinda won.

Anonymous,
What?!!!
Nobody cares about the governor and crud like that ... please.
Anyhow, Bredesen is a fixture in Middle Tennessee. He is the former mayor of Nashville.
Chalk this one up to pre-teen girls.

I voted for Melinda and Blake. I started Tuesday night thinking that I would vote for Jordin but I was not overly impressed by her performance. On the other hand Blake really surprised me. He got into “a good groove”, refused to reprise earlier songs and gave his all to the contest. I like Jordin but sometimes her efforts are a little subpar, discounting gems such as “I who have nothing” and “A broken wing” which, frankly, Jordin sings like no other. Melinda, I’m sure will make a great CD and I’ll buy it.
(Thus concludes the voting of the NJ jury on the east coast)

The only blundering IDIOT is you!.
I believe teh American Public has seen past the "Surprised" look of the Doolittel every time she has completed a song.
An Ideal IDOL is someone with NO TALENT, or formal training and can captivate the audience as Jordin can do. Blake brings a new era of music and style to the industry.

I think the fact that Melinda didn't seem to sing songs that were current. She certainly has a great voice, just don't think she is what the kids are looking for in an "American Idol."

Jordin has the most potential.Appearance in the entertainment industry ..as in life..gives you the edge.

Melinda might have a great voice BUT she is BOOOORING!!!!! No Pizzaz or excitement in her performances....
She is definitely not IDOL material; old looking/acting. Jordin & Blake are young, exciting, contemporary, and Blake is ORIGINAL!
Either one will make a great ($$$) Idol!

I am refusing to watch A.I anymore . The only reason that Melinda was voted off is so that Jordan can win because everyone knows that if Melinda was in the final two she would have kick butt big time and Simon and Randy already predicated that Jordan was going to be the winner I think that the show is fix anyhow remember Tamara Grey anyone.

I'd never watched American Idol before this season. I tuned in a few weeks ago because I heard there was an amazingly talented singer competing. Melinda Doolittle. And she is beyond amazing. When she sang "My Funny Valentine" -- my god, no singer has given me goose bumps like that since Sarah Vaughn or, in her heyday, Aretha. It's not just that she was the best ever on AI. It's that she's an astounding new find, a gifted artist of the first caliber, a singer of genius a la Ella Fitzgerald or Frank Sinatra. In this broader context -- I'm talking cultural treasures -- her loss on AI is even more ludicrous. So no, I'll never watch it again. Who cares what happens on a silly TV show? But I'll be waiting impatiently for Melinda's first album, which I hope will be jazz standards shaped and honed with her impeccable timing, musicality and heart. She will gifting us lovers of good music for years to come. So for that, at least, I'm grateful that AI existed, to find her and bring her to us.

The show is obviously directed to 13 year old girls...I am not one. You will see about as much of either of the two left as you do of Taylor Hicks or Rueben...they can't even get invited back to the show. I have never purchased any of the music from the former contestants but I will buy Melinda's CD and spend time listening during the AI timeslot...pitiful and I feel like I have been duped (taken advantage of for you 13 year olds)
